Hi, I’m Gavin Burrows (Gav), Owner of Trojan Martial Arts Academy & Trojan Boxing Academy.
Let me tell you a little about myself. I started martial arts when I was just 5 years old, training in Wado Ryu Karate. By the age of 9, I had earned my 1st Dan black belt, and I spent most of my childhood traveling the country - and even the world - competing and training with some of the best in the sport. As I got older, I transitioned into kickboxing and boxing, continuing to learn, compete, and grow. Unfortunately, my competing days were cut short by surgery, but I knew my journey wasn’t over. I had so much knowledge and experience to give back, so I decided to dedicate the next chapter of my life to others. That’s when I founded Trojan in 2010.
Since I was a little boy, I dreamed of opening my own academy. When I finally got the chance, my vision was clear: I wanted to create champions—not just in the ring but in life. I’ve experienced firsthand the positive impact martial arts and boxing can have, and I wanted to share that with others. I set out to build a place where people could learn multiple disciplines, work toward their goals, make lifelong friends, and grow together as a community.
Fast forward to today, and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved. Trojan has grown to multiple locations, with hundreds of members trusting us to help them on their journey. I’ve been fortunate to train world champions in kickboxing and professional boxing, as well as national amateur champions, but what I’m most proud of is the personal growth I see in our members. Watching children and adults alike gain confidence, learn life skills, and become champions in their own lives is what truly drives me.
Trojan isn’t just a gym—it’s a community, and it’s my privilege to be a part of so many people’s journeys. I’m proud of the impact we’ve had, not just in the competitive arena, but in our local community as well.
